Read and Write is available on MacOS (10.11 and higher) and for iOS (iOS 9 or higher) on all Yukon Education managed devices (school machines and 1 to 1 devices).

Read and Write can be accessed in the Common Apps folder on the dock. Click to launch, accept user agreement. The application is ready for use.
Apple introduced changes to security in MacOS10.12 that require a logged in administrator (i.e. staff member) to enable Privacy controls in System Preferences.
    • Login with your staff YESNET/Rapid ID account.

    • Launch Read and Write from the Common Apps folder.


    • Follow prompts to allow Read and Write security access. Unlock padlock and check box next to Read and Write.

This will enable these controls for all users.
  • Install from Self Service and launch the app from the homescreen
  • Once Read&Write for iPad has been installed on your Pad you will then need to activate the app.Tap the Activate icon on your Home screen

  • Follow prompts as provided to enable keyboard access.

Installing Read&Write extensions onto mac Chrome:

Step 1: open your Google Chrome Browser and click the three dots on the upright portion of your browser window.
Step 2: Select “settings” from the drop-down menu.
Step 3: In the upper left portion of the settings page, click the three lines stacked on each other to open the sidebar. Choose “Extensions.”
Step 4: Look to see whether the extensions “Support for Read&Write Desktop” and “Read&Write for Google Chrome” are there. If they are, make sure they are turned on (there is a little toggle switch in the bottom right corner of each extension. Click to make it blue and switched to the right). If the extensions are not there, then go on to step 5
Step 5: Click HERE  for “Support for Read&Write desktop”
Click HERE  for “Read&Write for Google Chrome” For each of these extension links, click “Add to Chrome”

Text to Speech Problem fix:
“Read and Write will convert text to voice for everything in my web browser. The slightest mouse motion can make it speak. How to stop this?”

Solution:Step 1   click on the settings icon of your read and write menu bar. (this is accessed by clicking on the purple puzzle piece hovering at the top of your screen).

Step 2   In settings, click on the tab for speech

Step 3   Click to uncheck the box which says “read the web”
